Flemish Jacobean Carved Oak Glazed Bookcase | Belgium | circa 1920s
Glazed bookcase of carved oak wood in the Jacobean style.
Three locking glass doors open to reveal wooden book shelves.
Keys are provided for the locks.
The carcass sits atop a base with low stretchers and is supported at the front corners by bulbous legs with acanthus leaf carvings.
The stile strapping carvings combine bow & shield and floral & leaf designs.

Late 19th Century Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple / Raleigh Cabinet Works Inlaid Mahogany Bookcase
Shapland and Petter Ltd. of Barnstaple, North Devon, England, aka Raleigh Cabinet Works, glazed bookcase from the 1890s is constructed with mahogany wood from the West Indies inlaid with Arts & Crafts tulip designs.
The inlay is achieved with copper, pewter, yew wood, and white holly or sycamore stained green.
The doors are inset with convex glass panels. This is a design element Shapland & Petter used on other bookcases of the late 1800s.
The bookcase rests on four signature Shapland & Petter spade feet.
