"Their great prices, and wonderfully vetted merchandise is one of the many things that sets them apart!" - Lorelei
"Just love this store, my husband Ned and I came upon this Gem on a Sunday. It was jam packed with beautiful stuff. We purchased a dinning set and buffet, and it was delivered the same day.We are sure to come back and get a dresser next. Its like the HOME DEPOT OF ANTIQUES. Just love it." - Darlen and Ned Portsville, North Park.
"Take plenty of time when you visit here because it is so filled with treasures! Tables, chairs, chests, armoires, and all the little decorator pieces, too. Breathing in the fragrence of the antique woods is one of those great comforting and soothing experiences that I love. This place has ALWAYS been well dusted to show the glow and patina of the treasures within it."
"India Street Antiques has a large selection of fine antiques. I can find whatever I am looking for at a very reasonable price."
"India Street Antiques is the place where my wife and I purchased our son's armoire. It had exactly what we were looking for and more."
"Well curated antiques & highly knowledgeable staff." - Nina
"What a gem! I found this store by accident since I parked across the street to go another business (which wasn't so exciting). India Street Antiques has some GORGEOUS, quality, solid wood furniture! Most items are not not my personal style, but oh my, what beautiful pieces of art they are. They have been taken care of nicely and displayed attractively. The store even SMELLS good! I left wishing there was something I could buy there ... and I would highly recommend this store to anyone who is looking for antique or mid-century furniture. Or just stop for a look, there's no pressure to buy." - Michelle S.
"We recently purchased a beautiful mid century modern credenza at Danish Modern/India Street and we love it! You can tell that Dan is a true craftsman. He knew all about the pieces, their lineage, size, wood and how to take care of them. He was very accommodating to any request we had - such as possibly swapping out straight legs for tapered legs.
The front of the store is Danish Modern and the back is India Street which carries more traditional antiques, so you can find a wide variety of styles here. The service is friendly and very professional. The quality of the piece is impeccable and we love it! It feels great to support small businesses such as this. You will have a piece of furniture that is made of real wood and lasts a lifetime, versus the particle board MDF that places like West Elm sell for twice the price." - May C.
"I adore the antiques and just LOVE the hand painted parasols. The service was most helpful and Dawn really knows her antiques." - Tanya L.
"If you have something in mind, ask them. They get new shipments frequently and they can keep their eyes and ears open for what you're looking for and get it to you. It's gorgeous stuff. Beats assembling foreign furniture. Beats it by a million miles." - Jeffrey S.
"New to the San Diego area, my husband and I were looking for antiques or at least furniture made with REAL wood and not veneers to decorate our home. We went all over San Diego looking for options and we even looked online at Restoration Hardware and other online stores.
We were about to give up in frustration when we found India Street Antiques. There are many real wood options. My mother, an antiques dealer on the East coast, said to look for furniture before the 1950's if I want something that is real wood, high quality, will hold its value better and will last longer. Most of the furniture from Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn looks nice, but reviewers report that it falls apart, the wood cracks, it's uncomfortable and the customer service is horrible.
I am so glad we finally found India Street Antiques. The service was excellent, there were many beautiful choices and compared to the prices online, in retail furniture shops and even 3 different consignment shops in San Diego (and let me tell you, I even looked at dining chairs from Lamps Plus that required you to screw the legs in!!!), India Street Antiques won us over in terms of price and quality.
I even sent pictures of the furniture to my mother before buying to get a second opinion and she knew exactly the type and time period and confirmed they were great options. We got a set of dining chairs and 2 bedside tables. I could have purchased more if we needed it and will be sure to go back as I need more furniture.
I don't understand why some of the reviewers here are saying that India Street Antiques has high prices. The chairs were a better price than the above mentioned Lamps Plus chairs with screw in legs. They were better priced than the 3 consignment stores we went to. And the chairs we got at India Street Antiques were from the 1920's. No worries about falling apart, uneven legs or showing glue, like we've heard from Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn customers.
This is NOT a thrift store, so don't expect thrift store prices. However, compared to the other options around San Diego, the prices are fair and the owners are willing to give you a deal if you buy several items. For my money, it's worth the price and I think you can find something in your budget if you look around.
I highly recommend giving India Street Antiques a try." - Heather F.
"The owners couldn't have been more helpful. This is the best antique/used furniture store we've found in San Diego. Quality wood furniture every where you look - this place rocks!
Bonus: the prices are fair, the owners are incredibly helpful and the selection is fantastic.
We now stop in every chance we get to check out new inventory. An amazing store - one of my absolute favorites!!" - Joel D.
"I bought a very nice oak armoire with flower carvings on the door last weekend. The salesperson, Dan Pond, who sold it to me for a very nice price, also surprised me by making an extra closet rod for me. It fit perfectly and allowed me to transfer my clothes into it right away. Definitely recommend this great antique store for its wonderful customer service, reasonable prices and great inventory." - Stephanie C.
"I purchased an antique table and chairs here many years ago which i love. After years of daily service i returned it to India St. Antiques to have the table top refinished. They did an amazing job! They were able to perfectly match the color of the new top to the antique base and chairs. I couldn't be happier with the results!" - Steve H.
"For me the appeal was the large amount of retro and scandinavian influenced pieces. I adored seeing so much of it stacked in one space...So many options! If you're willing to invest some money for a piece of furniture that will work through and with other trends, and enhance any space, either as a functioning piece of furniture or sculptural one, go here." - Noel L.
"I bought an antique fireplace surround from India Street Antiques. I always wanted to make my fireplace in my home more inviting. The owner Dan, went out of their way to help me. The surround was refinished and installed with oak pieces added to fit correctly to the standing fireplace in my home. Steve came out several times to my home to make sure that it fit correctly. It was absolutely beautiful when finished. I felt that the prices were fair and the workmanship was just wonderful. Thank you Dan, Steve and Juan." - Sheryl K.
"Beautiful antiques, exceptional customer service!"
- Debbie W.
"Amazing selection of diverse eras. Such unusual pieces! Add in a little mid-century modern and you have a fantastic inventory! Dan and Dawn are very knowledgeable about the wares too!!!"

"I've had two furniture repairs and one refinishing done at India Street Antiques. I've been very pleased with the quality each time, but I want to really rave about their prices. Each time, the final cost was much less than I anticipated going in. I will continue to go back to India Street Antiques for my wooden furniture repair needs." - Michael Krawczak
"Looked all over Los Angeles for the perfect coffee table to fit in our antique theme living room, who knew it was living in San Diego. India Street Antiques has beautiful pieces and fair prices. The owner was more than willing to work with us. Highly recommend the place to anyone looking for quality antiques at a reasonable price." - Luis Q.
"I came down from Los Angeles and found this great store. It has Danish Modern in the front half and Antiques in the back half. Quite a large amount of furniture. This is like the best collection I have seen. I purchased a Danish Credenza and a Antique French nightstand. The store is clean, staff friendly, and price tags are easy to read. I am going to be back for table set soon, just need to decide which style. Also while there, a few people were picking up their repaired items. A lady brought a piece in from her Grandma and they made it look wonderful. I would have bought it if she would have sold it to me." - Richy
"I again am impressed with the great selection. This is the overall best place for antique furniture in good condition in San Diego. You won't find junk here, plus they can fix and repair and refinish here too. They made my Mothers table look new again. I visit often because they get lots of new items daily. I also saw on Facebook they are getting a few containers of Vintage Danish Modern. They used to carry it and I am pleased to see it back. I bought a Credenza from them in 2008. Can not wait to see the stuff." - Steve
"After reading the reviews we went over to the shop. I found it clean, organized and not overpriced. It was quite the opposite, I thought the prices were great and even bought a dresser for my room. This store is not a junk shop - quality is great, staff friendly and prices speak for themselves. Happy customer."
"They have the best selection of cabinets and dressers. I am always impressed with the quality. Steven helped me out a great deal when I went in there. I will be back when I decide what to do with my sitting room." - Heather B.
"When I am looking for that special something to add to my collection...this is my destination. Period. And, fabulous Period pieces here...and take NOTE: AMAZING treasures at AMAZING prices. Really incredible source!
Warmth, friendliness generosity....and ZERO (haughty) attitude. Dan was beyond gracious, even when I told him I was really only looking;-out of work and broke. At the moment, furniture isn't an immediate priority....but, when the times change....this is where I'll be going!
Dan GIFTED me a bottle of Furniture Polish as a nice token....for no other reason than to be kind and neighborly. THAT IS RARE; and, to me, it means all the difference.
I am a retail sales pro (very seasoned)....and gestures like that show that Dan and Steve care about what they do and CARE about relating to their Customers.
Thank you, Dan....you made my month! Seriously....and....btw....I LOVE the POLISH. My Pine shines with beautiful lustre. I'll be back to purchase a GIANT bottle!
And, all of you out there....PLEASE go visit India Street Antiques...it's worthy of your time." - Patricia L.
"I found this store by overhearing another Antique Dealer saying she buys a lot here. I seeked out to see for myself. I found a bustling store, with great prices. They move a lot of stuff, no other store has the selection of this one. I now go in at least once a week and am amazed how fast they move antique furniture. I bought a dresser from France, and they repaired my moms chair here too. Friendly people with a mixture of American, English, French, Italian, Asian pieces. I wish my home was larger. Also, I just found out they have a container of VINTAGE DANISH MODERN on its way. I should say I'm excited as my parents are from Denmark." - R. Petterson
"I will be a customer for life. What lurks behind it's understated storefront is an enormous inventory of well-priced antiques with something for everyone. Plan to spend a little time examining the treasures, and when you find the one for you, don't be afraid to deal.
I spied an Italian armoire months ago that was part of a gorgeous bedroom set, complete with a marble-topped vanity with the most amazing marquetry. Likewise, the armoire had equally well-preserved marquetry covering each of its 3 sections, together about 7 ft long and almost 7 ft high at its apex which, remarkably, had an electric light fixture in a beautiful brass surround with an old rose and ribbon motif. Sadly, I realized this piece was just too big for my bungalow bedroom.
Months later, I received an email from India St. Antiques owner Daniel who asked me if I was still interested in the armoire as he'd sold the other pieces. He offered me a price I couldn't refuse, but I still had the quandry of whether or not it would fit in my house. I measured and measured, did an un-godly amount of calculating and still was convinced it wouldn't fit. Daniel said they'd done this a thousand times and if it didn't fit I wouldn't have to buy it. SOLD!
Needless to say, I was still a little anxious about the size and envisioned having to take out the window to get the darn thing installed. At the appointed hour, the delivery truck arrived--with Daniel to oversee. Actually, he engineered the moving of the armoire into my small house, through numerous doorways, never swore (though I did), and magically eased the behemoth into my bedroom where it looks absolutely perfect. You can trust India Street Antiques to come through for you.
In these days of lousy customer service, I now have a glimmer of hope that there are others, like Daniel, willing to actually help and make the experience so awesome as to make customers evangelists instead of complainers. Yippee!!" - D.L.
"India Street Antiques offers a variety of quality antiques with reasonable prices. They also custom prepare their pieces for each shoppers usage which makes them the most functional store I have found in San Diego! They have delivery services to better facilitate shopping ease and personal service to answer all questions/concerns. Great shopping experience ......so go find a treasure and have some fun!" - Carolyn R.
